First Blog

Hello all! I decided to do this blog since I'm living so far from most of the people I care so much about! Obvioiusly, we've been here for awhile... so long in fact, I can't even remember the exact date, but almost a month, if not a month already! Chase has begun his training and he's already working hard (or so he makes me believe that's what he's doing!). I have been on a job hunt ever since we got here. Very frustrated with the San Diego County School System. Turns out there are 42 school districts just within this county and each one is in charge of hiring substitutes. I figured that out after I already spent the money to get fingerprinted and get my temporary teaching certificate. Which wouldn't have been a big deal, except the districts I wanted to substitute for because they are the closest aren't hiring new substitutes. One blatantly told me they are only hiring student teachers, retired teachers, or laid off teachers. So, off I went on a major sob search. I figured working at the mall that's less than a mile from our house would be so efficient, and hello, discount! Unfortunately, the places were hiring were only hiring part time. And as well know, clothing stores do not exactly pay great, so part time really wasn't an option... unless it was like 30 hours a week (which it wasn't... more like 15 hours a week). I applied online to jobs, including Sylvan Learning Center. I got a call and went in for an interview and found out Monday that I got the job! Yay! It's also part time, but the director said she would try and get me as many hours as possible, and if it's still not as many as I need I guess I could go look at one of those clothing store options again! Hopefully that won't be the case, because I actually enjoy making sure our apartment is neat and tidy and making dinner for Chase and I. Alrighty, I'm going to end this now and hopefully I remember that I've actually started a blog and will keep writing more!

  1. Well it is good to know that someone out there is hiring. At least you will still be sort of a teacher even if it is tutoring people who are in trouble or just do not get it at school. I know you helped me out when I first went back to school and hated Math. I still hate math and wish I had had you here when I was going through my math courses.

  2. Thanks for sharing my darling. I am glad you are doing well. I know that San Diego can be tough, especially for job searching. It is so beautiful there, so it often makes up for all the stress :) I lived in Ocean Beach, make sure to take your puppy to the dog beach there. I lived 1/2 black from there on Long Branch Ave. I sure miss it, but I am so much happier here. You can just check my fb to keep up with me... I am always posting pictures. I am really happy with Mike D :) I am moving to Arlington soon with a roomie, so should be fun. I love you, keep us posted.

  3. Thanks guys for the comments!

Sorry Allen I can't be there all the time to help you with your math work, but you're out of all that now, right? Love ya and miss ya bro!

Bea - I'll make sure to take Nellie down to the dog beach at some point! She hates the water though so I don't even know if it would be worth it. We have a dog park right across the street from our apartments though, which is great. Too bad Nellie got sick after I took her there the first time, so I want to make sure she's fully better before I take her back! I'm glad you're happy back in MD, how can you not be?! You look like you are by all the pictures (don't worry, I facebook stalk!). Love you, miss you too!
