Weekend Fun!

Thanks for coming back! I've actually been *kind of* busy! I've been working more this week, which is excellent, but when I have down time, I definitely take advantage of it. Tonight though, I'm super bored because Chase had to go to a meet and greet of some sort for work, leaving me to my lonesome on a Friday night! That's okay, we will be pretty busy tomorrow, so I am excited. Before I get started on what we are doing for tomorrow, I am excited to talk about last weekend! I had wanted to go to the Ravens game out here in San Diego for quite sometime, but knew it probably wasn't going to happen because Chase's job requires a lot of him, even on weekends. There is a lot of studying involved or just making sure he's rested up for the following day when he'll be extremely busy taking classes, practicing in the simulator, taking tests, FOD walks, etc. When the schedule came out and he found out he didn't have much to do on Monday, he decided to go ahead and buy the tickets!!! I am always weary of going into stadiums wearing another teams jersey, but I had to, I was excited to actually be going to the game since I see all of my friends going to games back home. I wasn't alone though, there were lots of Ravens fans, I was surprised. My boss made the comment that a lot of Chargers fans are "fair weather" fans so I guess it's understandable, plus San Diego is a big military town so there are lots of out-of-towners. It was even more awesome because Ray Lewis made an awesome play at the best time, causing the Ravens to win! Wooo!

On to this weekend... tomorrow we are meeting with a photographer for engagement and wedding pictures! I'm so excited to finally get the ball rolling! I will be even more excited when we are actually going to take engagement pictures! That way we can get those Save-the-Date cards out! At least were on our way! Now if only I could find a caterer to work within my budget! After the photographer meeting we are going to go to Sea World! So excited to go out and do something that San Diego has to offer! Best of all, it's free since Chase is in the military! After that we are going to go to Pizzeria Luigi, a place I first saw on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives (aka Triple D's). I know it may not sound like much, but I am really big on going to these types of places b/c I think that's where you find the good stuff! Also, Chase and I have decided to start the P90X program, and we will begin it hopefully on Monday (as long as I can complete the fit test!), so that means no more eating crap! This is going to be hard!

I'm also excited because my mother is going to be booking her flight to come out to see me for Columbus Day weekend! This means that we will be going WEDDING DRESS SHOPPING!!! And right now I'm watching Say Yes to the Dress, so I'm getting even more excited. Especially since I see this really picky girl on here and she's just completely annoying me. She's at Kleinfeld's for goodness sake! I wish I could go there to shop for my wedding dress! Alright... I think that is all for now! Love you all!

Wedding Venue

I'm really excited because not only have we decided on a place to have our wedding, but the deposit has gone through, which means it's actually official that our wedding will be on May 29, 2010! It's going to be on the rooftop of La Jolla Cove Suites overlooking Ellen Browning Scripps Park, La Jolla Cove, and the Pacific Ocean. It's beautiful, take a look for yourselves. The picture I have posted with this blog is one of the views from the rooftop)! Both our ceremony and reception will take place here, which is awesome because we will be able to view the beautiful California sunset during the reception. The next thing Chase and I really want to find is a photographer so we can get engagement pictures taken and Save the Date cards sent out.

So besides all that excitement, I also went to my first day of work today! It wasn't too exciting, but I learned a lot. I watched three videos on Sylvan's purposes and objectives, motivation, and table management. I go back on Monday to start training on the different subjections and how to teach each one and everything that's involved. For obvious reasons, they are going to start me with math (if it's not obvious to some of you -- it's because I have been a math teacher the past four years). So I'll be more excited next week when I start observing how to run the tutoring session and seeing what I'll be doing in the close future!

That is all for now! Au Revoir!

First Blog

Hello all! I decided to do this blog since I'm living so far from most of the people I care so much about! Obvioiusly, we've been here for awhile... so long in fact, I can't even remember the exact date, but almost a month, if not a month already! Chase has begun his training and he's already working hard (or so he makes me believe that's what he's doing!). I have been on a job hunt ever since we got here. Very frustrated with the San Diego County School System. Turns out there are 42 school districts just within this county and each one is in charge of hiring substitutes. I figured that out after I already spent the money to get fingerprinted and get my temporary teaching certificate. Which wouldn't have been a big deal, except the districts I wanted to substitute for because they are the closest aren't hiring new substitutes. One blatantly told me they are only hiring student teachers, retired teachers, or laid off teachers. So, off I went on a major sob search. I figured working at the mall that's less than a mile from our house would be so efficient, and hello, discount! Unfortunately, the places were hiring were only hiring part time. And as well know, clothing stores do not exactly pay great, so part time really wasn't an option... unless it was like 30 hours a week (which it wasn't... more like 15 hours a week). I applied online to jobs, including Sylvan Learning Center. I got a call and went in for an interview and found out Monday that I got the job! Yay! It's also part time, but the director said she would try and get me as many hours as possible, and if it's still not as many as I need I guess I could go look at one of those clothing store options again! Hopefully that won't be the case, because I actually enjoy making sure our apartment is neat and tidy and making dinner for Chase and I. Alrighty, I'm going to end this now and hopefully I remember that I've actually started a blog and will keep writing more!
